Radiohead's Thom Yorke: 'I can see why 'The King Of Limbs' alienated people' Radiohead Tickets

Radiohead's Thom Yorke has said he can see why the band's eighth album 'The King Of Limbs' alienated people.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, the singer said of the album, which was released as a download with just a week's notice with no publicity by the band:

It was amazing just to put the record out like that. But then it didn't feel like it really existed…But that was the consequence of what we chose to do. You can either get upset about it, or say, 'well, that's not good enough.'

He added: 'I can see why it's alienated people. I didn't realise it was on its own planet'.

The band are currently touring North America in support of the album and will play three UK shows in the autumn at Manchester's Evening News Arena (October 6), and London's O2 Arena (October 8 and 9).

Speaking of the drawn-out recording process for the album, Jonny Greenwood added: 'The brick walls we tended to hit were when we knew something was great, like 'Bloom', but not finished. We knew the song was nearly something. Then Colin had that bass line and Thom started singing. Those things made it a hundred times better. The other stuff was just waiting for the right thing.'

Radiohead have been playing two new songs, 'Identikit' and 'Cut A Hole', as part of their recent live set.

Thom Yorke just posted on Radiohead.com’s in post entitled ‘Dot Connectors’, paying tribute to the Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who passed away yesterday.

I was very sad to hear the news of Adam Yauch’s death yesterday.
We looked up to the Beastie Boys a lot when we were starting out and how they maintained artistic control making wicked records but still were on a major label, and the Tibetan Freedom Concerts they organized had a very big influence on me personally and the way Adam conducted himself and dealt with it all impressed me a lot. He was a mellow and v smart guy. May he rest in peace.

Radiohead's Thom Yorke and producer Nigel Godrich debuted new songs from their Atoms For Peace supergroup during their DJ set at an LA club last night (April 27).

The duo, who play in the band alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea, Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco, played the new songs during their set at Transmission LA: AV Club, a free 17-day music and visual arts festival series at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, curated by the Beastie Boys’ Mike D.

The new songs may be from the group's forthcoming debut LP, which is rumoured to be released in 2012 – although no official confirmation as been issued. You can listen to the three new songs played by the duo by scrolling down the page and clicking.

Last year, Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea revealed details of an album and said they started working on a record after touring together under the Atoms For Peace name.

'At the end of the tour we went into a studio for three days and just jammed – totally improvising,' he told Rolling Stone. 'Thom and Nigel [Godrich] have taken that stuff and done shit with it. I've heard little bits and pieces. I have no idea when it's going to come out. Not real soon though.'

Thom Yorke & Nigel Godrich have been DJ’ing tonight at the The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles. The duo debuted new tracks during the set.

After the opening of the Stanley Donwood exhibition at Subliminal Projects Gallery an afterparty was scheduled at MOCA in LA with Gonjasuffi, Ana Caldaron, as well as Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich (Nigel: “We’re Djing at Mike D’s bash”). The two under the name Atoms For Peace played 5 new songs with Thom Yorke vocals. And it all points out to tracks from the highly anticipated Atoms For Peace album.

Atoms For Peace is live band of Thom Yorke, which includes Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and Red Hot Chili Pepper bassist Flea. A new album was in the works, but till today there was no sign of new material. Thom & Nigel also played a Lotus Flower remix, but below is the new work…

New Stanley Donwood Exhibition in LA: LOST ANGELES

Stanley Downwood will be showing new work in Los Angeles. The artist responsible for Radiohead’s artwork since the early nineties has a show from April 28 to May 26, 2012.

Today is the opening of Stanley Donwood’s new show LOST ANGELES. The Lost Angeles piece is similar to the London Views artwork, which was also used for Thom Yorke’s The Eraser. The opening is today, and Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich are likely to throw in a DJ Set later tonight. On the right a picture posted by Nigel Godrich on Twitter.

New prints are available including Hollywood Dooom and Tremendous Meteorite, the latter screenprint includes 24 carat gold. Stanley, who’s finishing up the exhibition at Subliminal Projects: “So, I’ve been here in Los Angeles for a few days now, setting up the show, and it’s almost done. The eighteen feet of black ink hand-burnished onto a roll of Japanese mulberry bark fibre paper that is the entire length of Lost Angeles is mounted on its custom-built curved wall (see above) and the same goes for London Views. All of the other works are framed and hung; the catalogs arrive today (I hope) and preparations for both private views are advancing towards some sort of climax. I’m afraid that my photos are so rubbish that I won’t post them here, but I’m awaiting some better ones from people who can operate a camera without the results looking as if they were taken underwater by a marionette.”

Last night, the Coachella Festival wrapped up in Indio, California. While Radiohead had already completed their festival duties, Thom Yorke hung around, DJed in all sorts of places, and then on Sunday night joined Modeselektor onstage for one of Coachella’s final performances. Some pretty impressive Thom moves followed…

Radiohead's Thom Yorke joined Modeselektor on stage at the final night of Coachella last night (April 22).

The singer performed at the end of the German electro duo's set to perform 'Shipwreck', from their latest album 'Monkeytown', contributing vocals to 'This' and 'Shipwreck'. Scroll down and click below to watch the recorded version of the latter collaboration.

Before the set, Modeselektor uploaded the picture of them above with Yorke backstage to photo-sharing site Instagram.

Radiohead headed the bill again at the second night of week two of the festival in Indio, California at the weekend, where they played new track 'Identikit'. In front of a flashy video show, which saw frontman Thom Yorke's image distorted and projected on multi-coloured screens, the Oxford band went on the play 'Idioteque' from 2000's 'Kid A' and 'Lucky' from 1997's 'OK Computer'.

After the show on Saturday night, Yorke DJed for a crowd of friends and family at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs, taking to the decks at 4am and playing a set consisting of Snoop Dogg, Diana Ross and James Brown, before taking to the dancefloor himself, reports the LA Times.

It was the second DJ set of the night for Yorke, who had joined Flying Lotus and Gaslamp Killer earlier in the night.

Radiohead will tour Europe in the Autumn in support of their album 'King of Limbs', including playing a trio of UK dates. They will play Manchester's Evening News Arena on October 6 and at London's O2 Arena on October 8 and 9.

Here we go, the final show of the second leg of Radiohead’s 2012 tour. Once again Radiohead are headlining Saturday night at Coachella and, once again, they are scheduled to hit the stage at 11:05pm. Sadly, no live webcast tonight.
